Letters to Lillian

Letters to Lillian
First it was two,
then we had you.
Now we have everything.

Letters to Lilly,
our daughter through adoption.

Our Adoption Timeline

2006- Rick and I met and started dating
2008- We moved in together
2009- We had our big beautiful wedding!
2009- We started trying to have children
2010- We finally break down and see an RE (Reproductive Endocrinologist). She tells us what we already know, I have PCOS. She also tells me something new: I have an enzyme deficiency she's never seen before.
2010-2011: We try three rounds of assisted fertility treatments. I quickly realize this is NOT for me.
2011-2012- We took a break from all things baby, and focused on the wonderful life we were blessed with.
January, 2012- We get word about a situation through our family friend/officiant that married us. We begin the adoption process/homestudy.
May 2012- That expectant mother decides to parent.
August 2012- Our homestudy is complete
August 2012-May 2013- Throughout this time, we're matched six more times. Every mother decides to parent, the last failed match being twins. We're excited for all of them finding the strength and support to keep their families together, but we mourn what could have been.
May 2013- We get the call about Lilly, and within two days she's born.
May-June 2013- We're in Florida awaiting ICPC with Lilly.
Novemeber 2013- We finalize our adoption!
